On your first visit only, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete and go over your confidential health history form. I will review the form with you; collaborate on your needs, priorities and goals for a plan of action. Don’t be afraid to discuss any apprehensions or concerns. I will outline what will happen in the session and then leave the room so you can undress to your comfort level. You should also remove any jewelry that might interfere with the massage.
The massage takes place on a comfortable, padded massage table, covered by sheets and a blanket. Make sure you are comfortable and let me know if you are not before and during the session. I will uncover only the part of the body being massaged, insuring that modesty is respected at all times. Tell me if you are too hot/cold, the pressure is too deep, don’t want an area of your body touched, are ticklish, don’t like the music, or are experiencing discomfort with the technique or how it is being applied. Remember, the massage is for your benefit, and you are paying good money, so it is your right to communicate your needs. Giving feedback to me before and during the massage will only help you receive a better session.
Some talking in the beginning of the session is probably good just to establish a little rapport with your therapist. But, in general, you will receive more benefit from the massage session if there's not a lot of chatting. Instead of being focused outwardly on a conversation, bring your awareness to your breath and consciously visualize your breath moving into the areas being massaged. The more you can surrender yourself to the experience of simply receiving, the more you will relax, and allow the massage session to be more effective.
After the massage, I will leave the room and give you time to dress and get grounded. Meet me in the reception area to discuss what was discovered during the session, I may recommend self care activities between sessions, take your payment (normally done prior to session) and schedule your next appointment.
Note: I work with various populations such as wheelchair users, children and older generations. Vacaville Massage Studio does not discriminate against race, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, body type, social status, occupation, or un-shaved legs.
